about

Having started his career being heralded by Pete Tong, Australia native Arkadia has fast become a shining light of the Oz underground scene and is quickly making his stamp on the world over. The modern progression tones of his sound cry Digweed & Sasha but with the emotive tech- house nuances of Guy Gerber. Which all comes clear in his first EP on Death Proof...

'Skinny Dip' is the epitome of a builder, an epic arppegiated synth rolls and washes throughout with a minimal drumline and warm swollen sub, whilst ever-so-subtle and perfectly timed mids and fx push the outer edges of the track. 'Graveyard Of Stars' ups the tempo a fraction with an infectious drumline and a bassline to die for! Emotive shimmering melodies eventually cry out and drop into abyss like breakdowns. Come the end of the track an overwhelming sense of gratification takes over. Hungary's finest, ICR (Chi) maintains the mood of 'Skinny Dip', but introduces a dubby tendency to proceedings with magnificent pads and glacial synths which pour through a click and pop beat. And our favourite Londoner, Ettica (Death Proof / Stereophoenix) brings a much more housier tip to proceedings on 'Graveyard of Stars', his punchy bass and shuffling kick and cymbals, progress to a huge array of synths, fx stabs and his typically stunning breakdowns.
