about

Following their sumptuous previous release (Memories/Hollow) was always going to prove a test but we feel Martin H & Andy Weid have acheived just the right sophomore tracks to stamp their authority on Death Proof Recordings.

'Bumper' is typical of their tight grooved techno: such an intense concentration on the drumline ensures this starts perfectly, dubbed-out key stabs then join the mood before a monumental bass punches through, carrying the track into tense abyss like breakdowns with subtle but aptly placed FX.
The triplets of 'Swarm' follow much the same path but with much more of a driving feel and reverb giving more expanse, the different connotations allow for dips into basements, big rooms and the more accustomed club floor. A delight for all tastes.

On remix duties we have a bit of a coup. Stepping away from his busy schedule of DJing, self-production and new label (Graft) we have the much celebrated Welshman, The Organ Grinder. Having spent the past few years lighting up many floors, airwaves and record boxes, he's kindly taken to putting his stamp on 'Bumper'. Maintaining the same path as its predecessor, he's ensured the tight groove with jagged, well-timed percussion, but with added euphoria in the shape of some glacial and emotive strings and well timed synth stabs, it all makes for a superb edgy builder.
